Charles Caleb Dean was born just a few months before he came with his parents to the midwest.
He was educated in Iowa at Howe's Academy at Mt. Pleasant, where his father was a minister. When he was 21, he moved with his parents to Putnam County, Missouri.
In 1888, Charles moved to Schuyler County, Missouri where he lived on the farm he would own until his death. He owned a large tract of land and took great pride in his farm. He was a student of history and politics, studied law, but disliked the active practice of law.
He was married on May 4, 1875? to Araminta Alice Eidson. They had seven children, of whom three died in infancy.
Charles lived near the Iowa-Missouri border at what was known as Guinn station.
Charles married Urennah Nelson on 30 Oct 1871 in Van Buren County, Iowa. (Urennah Nelson died 21 or 24 Apr 1873 in Putnam County, Missouri and was buried Hilltown Cemetary.)
Charles next married Araminta Alice Eidson, daughter of Dr. Andrew. J. Eidson and Lucinda M. Monroe, on 24 May 1885 in Putnam County, Missouri. (Araminta Alice Eidson was born on 11 Dec 1866 in McDonough County, Illinois, died on 22 Oct 1930 in Guinn Station, Missouri and was buried Coatsville Cemetery in Coatsville, Missouri.)
